Holiday Teacher Gift Idea/ Thank you
Wow! Christmas is coming fast. Next week is the last week of school here. It is time to think about teacher gifts! This year I am keeping it pretty simple. I am baked a batch of our current favorite chocolate chip cookies and bought Target gift cards. Pair that with some cute packaging and BAM! You end up with a Pinterest worthy teacher Gift!
For those that don't bake or you need it to be a little faster, buy the cookies at the grocery store. But, I promise these cookies are worth it and so easy to make.
Now, the cookies! I made them bite size for this project. Well, maybe 2 bites!
Chocolate Chip Cookies:
This recipe makes a ton of cookies. I used a half batch and rolled the dough into 1 inch balls and still had leftovers for the kids.
2c butter
4c Flour
2 tsp. Baking soda
2c Sugar
5c Blended Oatmeal
24oz. Chocolate Chips. I LIKE MINI CHIPS
2c Brown Sugar
1tsp. Salt
4 Eggs
2tsp. Baking Powder
2tsp. Vanilla
Optional - 3c Chopped Nuts - I left these out for the teachers batch just in case of an allergy!
Measure oatmeal and blend in a blender to a fine powder.
Cream the butter and both sugars together. Add eggs and vanilla.
In a separate bowl mix the oatmeal, flour, salt, baking powder and baking soda.
Combine the sugar mixture and oatmeal mixture together. Add chocolate chips and nuts if you wish.
Roll dough into 1 inch balls and bake at 375* for 10 - 12 min.
Store in an air tight container for up to 2 weeks or you can freeze after baking. Let them come to room temperature slowly when you pull them out of the freezer.
makes around 100 small cookies!
OK! So once you have made the massive batch of cookies, what next?
I plan to get each teacher a Target gift card.
Side Note! Did you know that the Starbucks inside Target won't accept Starbucks Gift Cards? What? They will accept Target gift cards but not Starbucks. I learned the hard way. Mama needed caffeine. My card was denied!
I found these cute little tumblers at Joann's Crafts in the clearance isle last year. I find it is always useful to grab these sorts of things when you see them cheap. They make fantastic packaging for teachers and coaches and anyone really. And it is so handy when you already have them and even better if you can get them on clearance!
Here is a link to the little tags I made. You can print as many as you need. I recommend printing on card stock.
I loaded the cookies and the gift card into the center of a square if cellophane wrapping. You can get a roll of this in any store that sells wrapping paper. Then, I wrapped the whole thing in clear gift wrap. I tied the tag on last. I'll also send them in small gift bags to make carrying easier for my tiny humans so they are able to make it to school in one piece. ;)
Voila!
