Who Am I?
I can't tell you about me without telling you about my clan, my crazies, my heart. Of course they don't define me. They shape me as much as I shape them. You can't have one without the other. So...lets start there. These are my people!

My husband John and I have been married for 15 years and the best of friends for many years before that. So, he knew what he was getting into. He refers to himself as my pin cushion. I dream it up and "pin" it and he dutifully steps in and does his part. Sometimes it's a "Honey-do" sort of situation and sometimes it's a "Honey, take the kids so I can do" situation. Typically, he is my partner in crime. He is amazing. More importantly, when he thinks I am crazy, he knows better than to let it show. :)

They are my pride and joy and also, let's be real, they are a tiny, uncontrollable army at times. I can't complain because I helped create them.
When I clean, they make messes. When I cook, they eat or don't on a whim. They wake me up at all hours of the night. They will walk past their father, who is standing at the fridge, to come find me in the shower just to ask me for a snack. I love them dearly. This is MOTHERHOOD.
We currently live in Iowa in a town just outside of Cedar Rapids. We have been here for 7 years. Winters are savage but beautiful and weather changes in an instant. We have some beautiful weather in Spring, Summer and Fall. It is a great place to raise kids and we have our tribe here. It has become home. A chilly home currently but, home none the less.
I am an elementary school teacher by trade and worked as a First-Grade
teacher for 7 years before becoming a mother. Moving to Iowa gave us the opportunity for me to stay home. I have taken on the role of stay at home mom / CEO of our home for the last 7 years. (Wow, it is crazy it has been that long. Time flies when you’re
in the trenches of life and have small kids)
I have always been crafty and learned to look for a diamond in the rough at an early age. I credit that to my Mom. I learned to dumpster dive and junk shop before I could walk. ;) I have no shame when it comes to a good DIY project. If that project comes out of a trash heap it just leaves more room for improvement. I break for garage sales (and birds, turtles, butterflies and... well... most things.)

I am also a mother of two. Olivia is a spunky 7-year-old
who has a mind of her own and a tender heart. She is a dancer, dreamer,
and the best big sister.

I love to fill our home with memories and pretty things that
make it cozy and personal. I love to turn something overlooked into a treasure.

I also love a good purge. I don't, well... I try not to
bring things into the house without a purpose or a plan. I am constantly
rearranging things trying to maximize efficiency or make them pretty. Also, my
husband travels a lot and I like to keep life interesting (for me) when he is
home by rearranging things and keeping him guessing. ;)
I am an organized person by nature. The kids are not.
My husband is not. I constantly fight a battle to let progress be my goal
not perfection. My need to organize and get tasks done battles with my
desire to have fun and be in the moment. Sometimes I am successful and
many times it turns into a Merry Mess of good intentions.
I love a project and I love making something myself and the
satisfaction that comes with it. Making memories, telling our story and
preserving our memories is my passion!
So, Come along. Let's Make A Merry Mess Together!

Strive For Progress,
Not Perfection!
I need this on a coffee mug, a banner, and probably tattooed across my forehead.
